Don’t refuse Him Who speaks from Heaven

  • by

In plain sight of Jesus His heavenly Father audibly commended Jesus, His Son, and gave the disciples a direct command by saying:

And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”… (Mark 9:7-8)

…a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” (Luke 9:34-35)

The Spirit of Christ has been sent to teach us the Way of Christ. We have Jesus’ words – His teachings – perfectly preserved in the Gospels and testified in of in the letters of the Apostles. What will we do with Jesus? And what we will do with what Jesus commanded?

Will we “hear Him” today?Don’t refuse Him Who speaks from Heaven

Too “Heavenly-Minded” to be any Earthly Good?

  • by

Why is it that the earthly-minded accuse those who might dare to believe and imitate God (Eph 5) with “He is too heavenly-minded to be any earthly good!”?

Sounds so “smart” and sensible, doesn’t it? It’s practical, pragmatic. “Religion is ‘good’, but it must have it’s place”, they will say. What they mean to say is that this “God business” must be subjugated to a lesser prominence than the important issues and cares of this life.

But can we be “too” heavenly-minded?Too “Heavenly-Minded” to be any Earthly Good?

The “Eternal Purpose” of God

  • by

Meditate on this Truth of God FOR and IN US — those who believe in the mind-transforming promises of God!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Eph 3:20-21)

Paul’s use of  “exceedingly abundantly above all” sounds very similar to his use of “width and length and depth and height” in describing the love of Christ; the fulness of God in the preceding verses (Eph 3:18-19).

Just how BIG or GREAT or MASSIVE is this power that Paul is trying to convey? The “Eternal Purpose” of God
